- Standard (Feb-Nov): $20/day per cat
- Peak (Dec-Jan): $25/day per cat
From February 2026:
- Standard: $25/day per cat
- Peak (Dec-Jan): $30/day per cat
Additional:
- Medication: $5 per session (morning/evening)
- Vet transport: $20 each way (Karori Vet)
- Out-of-hours: $20 ($50 in Dec/Jan)
Peak Season: 10-day minimum charge applies ($250 per cat) - you don't have to stay the full 10 days.
Requirements
- Vaccination: F3 or F4 up to date (certificate required)
- Desexing: Required if over 6 months of age
- Flea Treatment: Must be defleaed before arrival
- Worming: Must be wormed before arrival
- Health: Good general health, free of contagious conditions

Cody is the best, he cares for all his 'fur baby customers' as if they were his own. Our wee girl has a great time at the Makara 'cat Disneyland', (home away from home).
Makara Cattery is so good. Cody looks after the cats like they're his own, it's like the Club Med for cats. We recently boarded Miss Pixie, who is nearly 16, and she settled in well.
Cody is great and the set up he has is amazing, with lots of room for your cat to explore and relax. Just a really chill and caring place to send your cat.

FAQs
What food do you provide?
We provide Iams dry biscuits as a standard base diet. If your cat requires special or vet-prescribed food, please bring enough for the entire stay, clearly labelled.
Can I bring my cat's bedding or toys?
We supply all bedding, blankets, bowls, and litter trays. Due to hygiene and safety, personal items are not permitted as most cats do not engage with them and may become distressed by unfamiliar scents.
What happens if my cat needs veterinary care?
We have a trusted 20+ year relationship with Karori Vet. Unless otherwise arranged, they will be used for all veterinary needs. Transport is $20 each way to Karori Vet, $50 to other clinics. All vet costs are the owner's responsibility.
What are the Christmas period rates?
December to January is $25/day per cat with a 10-day minimum charge ($250). You don't have to stay the full 10 days, but the minimum charge still applies.
Can you administer medication?
Yes, medication is administered as instructed at $5 per morning session and $5 per evening session. All medications must be clearly labelled. Injectable medications are not administered.
